Create a Google Account

Create a Google Account

In preparation for our day together, please create a free Gmail or free Google Account if you do not already have one. If you prefer not to have another e-mail address, you can choose the Google Account; otherwise, I would suggest creating a Gmail account.

To create a Gmail account:
Visit https://www.gmail.com
Click on "Create an account" in the lower right.
Follow the instructions.

To create a Google Account:
Visit https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount
Enter your current email address
Choose a password
Once you've finished registering, you'll receive a verification email. Click the link in that email to complete the verification process.

NOTE: All Gmail accounts are also Google accounts. You can also create a Google account using a different existing email, so not all Google accounts are Gmail accounts. If that's too confusing, just flip a coin and go with the result - either works fine for what we'll be doing.

What about student accounts?

If your students are under the age of 13, you need to be mindful of creating accounts where students are giving away personal information. A couple of ways to handle this.
  • Get parents involved.
  • Get parental consent.

Ideally, you use Google Apps for Edand address this as a district.
