July 8, 2009 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM (w/1 hour lunch break) Placentia - Yorba Linda Unified School District 1301 Orangethorpe Placentia, CA 92870 Agenda: Welcome and Overview Google Apps: Education Edition (Overview) Search Docs LUNCH Google Calendar Google Reader (and iGoogle) Google Mobile Even More Google Apps: Education Edition (Demonstration) Reflection (with Google Groups) Online Evaluation eBooklet (16 MB PDF File) Description: Search,
learn, share! Brought to you by the producers of the Google Teacher
Academy, the Google Workshop for Administrators (GWA) introduces
participants to innovative ways Google tools can be used in school
administration. A full day of fast-paced presentations and hands-on activities includes experience with advanced search techniques, collaborative web-based applications, and
powerful professional development strategies. Google Certified Teachers
share ways administrators can implement tools such as Google Search,
Google Docs, Google Groups, and... even more.
Many of these tools are ideal for extending a professional learning
community online. Participants who complete the event are also given
access to the Google Workshop for Educators Network, an online
community focused on supporting educators as they learn more about the
power of Google tools in education. The Docs segment will focus on extending a PLC online (with
collaboration, shared assessments, and data collection/analysis), and
using Forms for custom teacher observations or online referrals (even
on a mobile device). The Calendar segment will focus on organizing
campus activities such as use of athletic fields and teacher sign-ups
for libraries and computer labs... not to mention creation of an
up-to-date central repository of all staff meetings and other school
events, including ASB and PTA calendars (and how to share these with
the staff and/or community). The Search (and Reader) segments will
focus on things such as being able to locate timely relevant research
(when needed for research-based decision making), discovering news
about the school, and having updates on important topics come to them
(as a way to save precious time). And of course, the Mobile segment
will help administrators learn to take many of these tools with them
on-the-go as they walk campus or travel off-site. Lead Learners: Mark Wagner, Ph.D. Professional Development Coordinator Computer Using Educators (CUE) http://www.cue.org/cuetoyou/ mwagner@cue.org MarkWagnerIM (AIM) markdwagner (Skype) markwagner (Twitter) 949-394-6071 Kyle Brumbaugh |
