Activity: Create a Google Site

BRAINSTORM 
Come up with ideas with your neighbor about what site will work for you.
 
Consider some of the following: 
  • Who is your audience?
    • Will you use it in your classroom?
  • Who can you collaborate with?  
    • Grade level teachers?
  • Will it be an informational page (static) or a working page (dynamic)?
Create a Site 
  • Collaborate on a test site or create one for for use in your role as an educator.
  • It should be a quick mock-up as a proof-of-concept that you can use when you return to work. 
  • The audience can be students, parents, or colleagues
  1. Creating a site
    1. Name the site
    2. Select a theme, if desired (not a template)
  2. Edit the homepage
    The Buttons
    Shortcut - e for edit
  3. Layout (number of columns, etc.)
  4. Insert an image
  5. Share the site
    1. Choose can view for page level permissions
    2. Can have multiple owners
    3. Check the editing option
  6. Create a page
  7. Put a page under the Home page
    1. create an announcements page (blog) or new web page
    2. Create new post
    3. Attach a file
  8. Use the More button to
    1. view revision history
    2. move the page
    3. delete page
    4. manage site
  9. Edit sidebar
  10. Add a sidebar item
    1. Insert a countdown, text box, or other item
  11. Edit navigation
    1. level of pages to show
  12. Manage site options
  13. Create a page: Examine insert menu
    1. Insert a gadget
    2. Insert a Google document
    3. Insert a Google form

Use the Google MP3 Player code to embed a audio file:

Copy the code above, replace MP3_FILE_URL with the link to your mp3 file. In Edit mode, click the HTML button in the toolbar.  Paste the embed code. Click Update. Click Save.
