Extensions are little programs that add useful functionality to the browser and to the websites you visit.
Extensions can be installed from the Chrome Web Store.

Add-ons
Add-ons allow you to add all kinds of functionality to your documents and spreadsheets. Access them from Add-ons menu within the document or spreadsheet.
